If you’re looking to start a registered business, then you might be considering using a business formation service like Swyft Filings or Bizee (formerly Incfile). These business formation companies (and other companies like them) can be very helpful if you feel overwhelmed by all the business paperwork you’re facing.

But in the Swyft Filings vs. Bizee matchup, who comes out on top? Are there any alternatives you should consider instead? In this guide, we’ll review both Swyft Filings and Bizee, comparing how these two options compete in terms of value, customer service, customer reviews, and more.

Let’s get started.

About Swyft Filings and Bizee

At first glance, Swyft Filings and Bizee appear quite similar — both provide services to help entrepreneurs start and maintain their businesses. However, the two companies have different strengths, weaknesses, and backgrounds that distinguish them.

Bizee was founded in 2004 under the name Incfile, and they operated under that brand name for nearly two decades. In 2023, the company rebranded as Bizee, adopting the new name to better reflect its wider range of offerings. What began primarily as a formation service has since grown into a more complete suite of business solutions, including registered agent service, compliance tools, and other ongoing support for small business owners.

Swyft Filings, on the other hand, entered the market in 2015 and is based in Houston, Texas. Despite being newer than Bizee, the company has already assisted more than 600,000 businesses with tasks such as business formation, filing amendments, electing S corporation status, and other organizational needs.

Key Facts About Bizee and Swyft Filings

Bizee and Swyft Filings have a fair bit of common ground as two established companies in the business formation services sector. We’ll dive into these distinctions throughout this guide, but here’s a quick glance at these companies.

Swyft Filings

  • Strong customer reviews, especially for a relatively young company
  • Offers a free LLC formation package (plus state fees)
  • Registered agent service is pricey (billed quarterly and not annually)
  • Not accredited by the Better Business Bureau

Bizee

  • Offers a free LLC formation package (plus state fees)
  • Includes one free year of registered agent service in LLC formation packages
  • Not accredited by the Better Business Bureau

Bizee vs. Swyft Filings: Our Full Review

In our assessment of Bizee and Swyft Filings, we evaluated several different categories: each company’s business formation service, registered agent service, other services, customer feedback, and customer support. We’ve also looked at pricing for extra services with these LLC formation companies.

Let’s dive in.

Business Formation Services

Both Bizee and Swyft Filings can help you form a limited liability company, corporation, or nonprofit. But how much will it cost you? For most small business owners, that’s an important question to answer. In this section, we’ll compare how much it costs to start an LLC with either of these brands. Both companies offer services for other business entity formations, but since a lot of entrepreneurs choose the LLC structure, we find it’s a good point of comparison.

Swyft Filings and Bizee both offer different packages for LLC formation services, each with unique blends of tools and services to help you navigate the business formation process. To start, here are the packages you can expect with Bizee:

  • Basic ($0 plus state fees): Bizee checks if your name is available and then files your Articles of Organization with standard processing (about 3 weeks). You also get one year of free registered agent service, a month of free virtual address service, and a tax consultation.
  • Standard ($199 plus state fees): You get everything in the basic package, plus help creating an LLC operating agreement, getting an EIN, and filing IRS Form 2553 if needed.
  • Premium ($299 plus state fees): You get everything in the standard package as well as rush filing, business contract templates, a domain name, a business email address, and more.

Meanwhile, here are the package choices for Swyft Filings:

  • Basic ($0 plus state fees): Swyft Filings checks that your business name is available and then prepares and files your Articles of Organization on your behalf. This package includes a 7 to 10-day processing speed.
  • Standard ($199 plus state fees): You get everything in Basic, plus an EIN, banking resolution, operating agreement, a free trial to virtual address service and a business document library, plus a few partner offers. You also get express processing.
  • Premium ($299 plus state fees): The Premium package includes everything in Standard as well as a custom digital LLC kit, and a longer trial for Swyft’s legal document library and virtual address service. You’ll also get same-day processing (or next-day processing if you submit your order after 3 p.m. CT).

We’ve seen Swyft Filings run a sale for $50 off their Standard and Premium packages (at the time of this writing, one such sale is about to expire). It’s possible to get a deal on these higher-tier packages, but it’s unclear how often they run these sales. You’ll want to check their website to see the most up-to-date pricing. Aside from temporary promotions, Bizee and Swyft Filings have identical price points for their packages. That said, we think Bizee provides a few more valuable features in their highest-tier package than Swyft Filings does (a digital corporate kit isn’t really helpful for most small business owners).

It’s hard to argue with a free LLC formation service (plus state fees), and it’s intriguing that both Bizee and Swyft Filings offer these affordable starter packages. That’s why ZenBusiness offers the same package: just pay your mandatory state filing fees, and we’ll form your LLC on your behalf.

Registered Agent Service

Every registered business is required to appoint a registered agent — a person or business authorized to receive service of process and other state notices on behalf of the company. While it’s possible to act as your own registered agent, there are strict requirements. You must be a resident of the state, maintain a physical street address there, and remain available at that location during all normal business hours.

For many entrepreneurs, those obligations are difficult to manage (or even impossible to uphold), which is why many choose to use a professional registered agent service. Both Swyft Filings and Bizee provide registered agent services to handle this responsibility.

Bizee charges an annual fee of $119 per year for registered agent service, but you’ll get free registered agent service for the first year if you use their business formation service. Swyft Filings has a much higher price point by comparison: $149 per quarter, which comes close to almost $600 per year.

Additional Services

Both Swyft Filings and Bizee provide more than just LLC formation and registered agent services. If you’re looking for a single provider to cover a range of business needs, these companies may be able to help. We won’t list every possible option here — that would make this Bizee vs. Swyft Filings comparison overly long — but we can outline some of the additional services they offer.

Swyft Filings supports entrepreneurs with a variety of business filings and compliance tasks. In addition to formations and registered agent services, they assist with business license research, annual report filings (including initial reports when required by your state), obtaining an EIN (which you’d need to get a business bank account), and handling conversions or dissolutions.

Bizee also supplies a set of tools to help businesses get established. Their offerings include EIN acquisition, preparing an operating agreement or banking resolution, S corporation elections, corporate kits, trademark services, and more. They also provide a business license package that helps identify which permits and licenses your business may need.

While the service catalogs at Swyft Filings and Bizee aren’t as extensive as some other service providers, both cover a solid range of essentials to help you start and manage a company.

Customer Reviews

When we assess online business service providers, we like to turn to third-party platforms such as Trustpilot and the Better Business Bureau. These sources give us a clearer sense of customer experiences. With that in mind, we reviewed customer feedback for Bizee and Swyft Filings.

Bizee has a notable presence on Trustpilot, holding an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars from more than 22,000 reviews (as of this writing). Positive feedback often highlights how easy the platform is to use and navigate. On the other hand, some customers point out concerns with the company’s Better Business Bureau profile — Bizee is not BBB accredited, and their business profile carries an F rating due to unanswered complaints. In addition, some reviews cite frustration with filing mistakes or poor customer service interactions.

Swyft Filings, despite being a relatively new company, has also built a fairly strong reputation on Trustpilot. At the time of this writing, they’ve collected over 7,000 reviews and maintain an average score of 4.6 out of 5 stars. Many customers praise the support team and note positive experiences when seeking help. Still, critical reviews mention unexpected add-on costs and difficulties with canceling subscriptions. Like Bizee, Swyft Filings is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau; their profile doesn’t currently have a BBB rating, either.

If you value BBB accreditation, you won’t find it with Bizee or Swyft Filings. In contrast, ZenBusiness has an A+ rating, and we’re accredited by the Better Business Bureau. We’re proud to provide excellent customer service in every interaction.

Customer Support

Chances are, you’ll have questions at some point as you get your business up and running. When that happens, responsive and reliable customer support becomes essential. With that in mind, we looked into the support options available from both Bizee and Swyft Filings.

Bizee provides lifetime customer support through phone and email, as well as a contact form on their website. In our test, a question submitted through the form received a response within one business day. Many customer reviews also note good experiences with Bizee’s support team, though some mention frustration with unhelpful representatives — particularly when trying to cancel a service they hadn’t meant to purchase. Bizee’s support team is available on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT.

Swyft Filings offers phone and email support along with a live chat feature on their website. In our latest test, the chat option delivered a response within about ten minutes, though it took a few back-and-forth messages to get a detailed answer since the initial reply was a generic form response. Email replies were slower. Swyft’s customer reviews tend to highlight positive interactions with support, but some note issues with billing disputes or canceling services they no longer wanted. Swyft’s support hours are the same as Bizee’s — 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday (but note that this differs from the hours you’ll see posted on their website’s footer; those are outdated).

In our opinion, it’s a little disappointing that neither brand offers weekend support hours. If your business is a weekend side hustle, you’ll have a much harder time getting the help you need. In contrast, ZenBusiness customer support is excellent, and we can help you any day of the week.

Which LLC formation service is best?

If you’re looking for help starting a business, you’ll find it with either Swyft Filings and Bizee; you might even be especially drawn to the free business formation packages (plus state fees) that these companies offer. But maybe the fact that neither brand is BBB accredited has you looking for alternatives.

If that’s you, check out ZenBusiness. We’re proud to offer our customers the best value and service. Like Bizee and Swyft Filings, we’ll form your LLC for free (plus state filing fees). Plus, we’re BBB accredited, and our customer feedback is fantastic: out of 24,971 Trustpilot reviews, we’ve got a 4.8/5 average score. We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer support whenever you need it.

Frequently Asked Questions About Swyft Filings and Bizee

  • The most widely recommended LLC formation package offered by Bizee is their Basic package plan, which is free (you just pay your state’s filing fee). With this option, you’ll receive a year of registered agent service in addition to your formation.

  • We couldn’t find a service listing for publication services on Swyft Filings or Bizee’s websites, so it doesn’t appear that these brands offer help with publication requirements. ZenBusiness does, though. If you need help with NY publication requirements, check out our New York publication service for more information.

  • Would you like to take a look at a few other options and see if Bizee is as good as other companies? Check out our comparisons of Bizee to other LLC services:

  • Both Bizee and Swyft Filings offer a fair number of upsells throughout their order forms, especially if you’re using the free LLC services (plus state fees). For example, when we used Swyft Filings’ form, we even found that customers are automatically subscribed to the brand’s annual compliance service without much notice during the business filing process — you have to manually remove it yourself if you don’t want it. It’s pretty sneaky. Bizee’s customer reviews also suggest that it’s easy to unknowingly subscribe to unwanted extra services during the ordering process, too.

With either service provider, pay special attention to the services you opt into, and read the fine print to ensure you understand exactly what you’re signing up for and what it’ll cost you.

  • Swyft Filings has a somewhat vague refund policy; they say that they do offer some refunds, but they must be requested within 60 days of purchase; a processing fee might be deducted. Additionally, their refund policy states that their obligation ends after they’ve filed paperwork with government agencies, so practically speaking, you’d have to request a refund within a few days.

Bizee lets you cancel and get a refund if you act quickly — usually within the first 24 hours before your payment is sent to the state or another third party. After that point, or once work like a trademark search has started, refunds aren’t available.

  • Swyft Filings offers standard processing, which gives you formation within 10 days. Their express processing speed cuts that range from three to five days, and same-business-day processing will have your LLC formed that day (or the next day, if you file after 3 p.m. CT). With Bizee, standard processing usually takes a few weeks (their promise time varies by state). Expedited service (included in their Premium package) cuts their processing time considerably; for example, in one state we looked at, expedited processing meant the turnaround time was two days.

  • You absolutely can form an LLC on your own. Using a business formation service can be really helpful, though. Services like ZenBusiness, Swyft Filings, and Bizee can all take some of the paperwork off your plate. Business services can also help you navigate your state’s unique rules and regulations, which might be trickier than you expect.

  • Swyft Filings and Bizee share the same advantage: they’ll form your LLC for free (you just pay state fees). That said, Bizee takes this advantage a step further by offering a year of free registered agent service in that package.

  • Bizee charges an annual fee of $119 per year for its registered agent service. They also offer an annual report service for $99 (plus state fees). Swyft Filings offers registered agent service for $149 per quarter, and their annual report service costs $99 per year (plus state fees).
