There are many LLC service providers like MyCompanyWorks and IncFile that can draft and file your formation documents, but which one is the right choice for your company?

This MyCompanyWorks vs IncFile LLC service comparison summarizes the strengths and weaknesses of each company relative to the other. There are many areas where these services overlap, but they have plenty of important differences as well. Let’s find out which one is the best fit for your new LLC.

Do MyCompanyWorks and IncFile Offer Good Value?

MyCompanyWorks and IncFile are both reputable companies offering reliable LLC formation services online, and we think you’ll be quite satisfied with either one. However, IncFile has some advantages for most of our readers.

Most importantly, IncFile’s free LLC formation package is considerably cheaper than the $59 price point offered by MyCompanyWorks. Furthermore, IncFile includes a full year of registered agent service, a feature MyCompanyWorks only adds to its top two LLC formation packages.

However, in general, MyCompanyWorks is a quality IncFile alternative, especially if you prioritize responsive customer support.

If you’re not quite ready to make your decision yet, read on to discover the main commonalities and differences between these two highly respected LLC services.

6 Things They Have In Common

1) Affordable: Both of these online LLC service providers are much more affordable than hiring a traditional law firm to draft and file your Articles of Organization. By using MyCompanyWorks or IncFile, you’ll save hundreds of dollars over hiring a lawyer.

2) Customer Support: Even though you’ll be saving money, you’re still not going it alone. These companies both have experienced and knowledgeable customer support representatives who can help answer your tough questions.

3) Additional Services: Do you need registered agent service, a federal tax ID number (EIN), a doing business as (DBA) name, etc.? These companies both offer many other business solutions beyond just helping you form your new LLC.

4) Experience: These providers have plenty of experience in the LLC service industry. IncFile and MyCompanyWorks each serve thousands of businesses every year, and their ability to effectively and efficiently form your LLC is unquestioned.

5) Positive Customer Reviews: Both IncFile and MyCompanyWorks get strong feedback from their customers. Both services have thousands of reviews all over the web, and they maintain high average ratings on all third-party review sites.

6) Efficiency: Need your company formed in a hurry? No problem! MyCompanyWorks and IncFile have expediting options that can cut your turnaround times down from weeks to mere days. There’s an added cost to expediting your order, but it can be worth it if you’re in a time crunch.

Side-by-Side Comparisons

Pricing

IncFile: IncFile will help you form your business for free while also providing a full year of registered agent service. Once the first year is over, the registered agent service will renew for $119 per year, which is a strong price point. In addition, their $149 Gold package and $299 Platinum package are both packed with valuable features that make them strong options as well, even at their higher price points.

MyCompanyWorks: Their basic package is $59, which isn’t a bad price considering the business documents included, but they do not include registered agent service except in their top-tier package. Also, with the higher-level packages costing $199 and $279, we would expect to see a bit more by way of added value. On the plus side, their registered agent service only costs $99 per year, which is a good rate.

Experience

IncFile: IncFile has helped form more than 800,000 businesses since it opened in 2004, giving them a significant experience advantage in this competition.

MyCompanyWorks: MyCompanyWorks has had 60,000+ business formations since opening in 2001.

Customer Support

IncFile: IncFile offers phone and email support, which we tested. When we used their phone support, our call was answered quickly, and our question was answered but not elaborated upon. However, Incfile’s email support is much less responsive. Many of our emails have gone unanswered, and several of the responses we have received are just form emails that don’t directly address our questions.

MyCompanyWorks: MyCompanyWorks provides customers with phone and email support. We reached out via the form on their website and received a response back in less than 24 hours, and we were also able to reach an employee on the phone quickly. Their reps were courteous and professional, and they elaborated a bit on their responses as well.

Turnaround Times

IncFile: IncFile guarantees that every LLC or corporation formation will be processed and forwarded to your state of formation within one business day. If you need your business formed in a hurry, IncFile offers the ability to order expedited state processing for an additional fee (determined by your state), or you can purchase their Platinum package which includes expedited service.

MyCompanyWorks: MyCompanyWorks guarantees that they’ll process your formation paperwork the same day you submit your order if it’s before 3 pm ET or the next business day if you submit your order after 3 pm ET. They also offer an upgrade to expedite service with the state once the paperwork is filed, and they have detailed estimates for both standard and expedited service on the order form.

Customer Reviews

IncFile: With roughly 34,000 reviews scattered across the web, and high average rating scores, it’s clear that IncFile’s services are popular and well-appreciated.

MyCompanyWorks: MyCompanyWorks has around 3,900 reviews available online, with most of them earning positive scores. This company has solid customer feedback.

Ease of Use

IncFile: As you walk through the process of signing up for IncFile, your steps are personalized based on the state you live in and the type of business you wish to establish. There are even little question marks and hyperlinks throughout the application to learn more about a specific question or entry on the form. There are a few upsells and third-party offers to navigate through, but if you opt into any of them, your total price is immediately updated on the screen. There are never any surprises with IncFile.

MyCompanyWorks: Once you’ve selected a package and any add-ons you need for your business, the application process is quick and easy. As long as you have all of the information you need, it shouldn’t take longer than 10-15 minutes. If you’re not sure where to begin with forming your business, they have a list of helpful articles covering topics like where to form your LLC or corporation and which of those entities is the right choice for you.

Additional Services

When it comes to their additional services, there’s plenty of overlap between these two companies, as they both provide common features like registered agent service, doing business as (DBA) names, annual reports, and more. In fact, these two companies offer almost all of the same services. However, there are a couple of exceptions, like MyCompanyWorks offering virtual office services.

FAQ's

The best LLC formation service offering from IncFile is their Silver package, which is free (plus state fee). In this package, you’ll receive a full year of registered agent service in addition to your LLC formation itself.

If you would prefer to spend a bit more in exchange for some advanced features, their Gold package for $149 is also a good bargain, as it adds EIN obtainment, a company alerts system, and an operating agreement.

Unfortunately, IncFile does not offer publication services in states that require it. We called their customer support team to ask for clarification on this issue, and they told us that publication requirements “need to be taken care of with the state directly.” When quite a few of their competitors (like ZenBusiness) do offer to handle publication and other state-specific steps, it’s a bit of a letdown to find out that IncFile does not.

MyCompanyWorks and IncFile both avoid overwhelming their customers with upsells, in our opinion. While some competitors go to great lengths to coerce their clients into upgrading to a higher-priced LLC service package or purchasing advanced features that they don’t really need, these companies don’t bother us in this regard at all.

Would you like to take a look at a few other options? Check out our comparisons of IncFile to other cheap LLC formation services:

MyCompanyWorks has three different processing fees of $25, $50, and $75 that they assess depending on when you request your refund. Obviously, the sooner you request it, the lower the fee. Once they’ve submitted your Articles of Organization to the state though, you can no longer request a refund.

IncFile is even more restrictive when it comes to refunds. They only provide refunds if you request one before they submit your payment to the state, which they say is typically within 24 hours. Even then, there’s a $30 processing fee. After they’ve sent your money to your state, their refund window is closed.

These service providers both base their turnaround times on the ability of each state to process LLC formations. Therefore, for the most part, they’re pretty close regarding their processing time estimates.

In general, we’ve found that MyCompanyWorks is sometimes a day or two faster than IncFile is in some states, but you should check with them to see if this is the case in your formation state.

This is always an option, and many people do choose to use the DIY route to form LLCs. We’re not always fans of this idea though, because each state has a different set of requirements for LLC formations, and it can be a hassle to familiarize yourself with your formation state’s specific rules and regulations if you don’t have experience forming LLCs already.

Plus, services like us at ZenBusiness can form an LLC for free, as long as you cover the state fee.

The biggest advantage for MyCompanyWorks is the responsiveness of its customer support network. You’ll hardly ever wait more than 20 minutes for a response if you contact them during business hours.

As for Incfile, their inclusion of a year of registered agent service with every formation package is a noteworthy advantage over much of this entire industry.

With either of these companies, you’ll have access to plenty of ongoing compliance assistance. We’ve already discussed Incfile’s registered agent service quite a bit, and it’s available for $119 per year after the complimentary first year.

They also offer annual report service for $88 plus state fee. As for MyCompanyWorks, they only provide a free year of registered agent service with their top-tier Complete ($279 + state fee) package, but you can order it a la carte for just $99 per year, and their price point for annual report service is the same $99 annual fee.
