Should I Buy Refurbished Electronics for My Small Business?

Why not? In most cases, refurbished electronics work just as fine as the newer ones, the only differences might be a few design elements and other bells and whistles. Mostly, you can do without the upgraded features, especially with basic electronics like your television and sound system. However, this is not staying a case against purchasing new electronics, it is more about saving money.

Small businesses are expected to channel their resources to aspects of their business that matter the most, and electronics just do not seem to be on that list. But if it is a key component of how your business operates, then look into it properly and try to make the best decisions.

Let’s say you need a laptop for your business, and you have your eyes on the MacBook Pro, which costs around £900 – £1200, but you can’t afford it. So, what do you do? If you are bent on using a MacBook Pro, then your next option will be to look for a refurbished one, which can cost below £700, and it is in perfect condition.

The biggest advantage of buying refurbished electronics is the price. And the best part is that you can find any kind of refurbished electronics – including TVs, PCs, laptops, printers, smartphones, digital cameras, tables and many more – you can buy them at prices as low as 50% less than what the new ones cost.

Another reason why purchasing refurbished electronics is a good decision is that the newer models aren’t usually so different from the older ones. When you compare the features of an iPhone 6s and the iPhone 7, you will realize that there aren’t too many differences. And while the 6s may no longer be “the” star of the moment, it works and just as fine as the iPhone 7 in many ways. This also applies to laptops and most electronic devices.

So you see that purchasing refurbished electronics isn’t such a bad idea, especially if you are trying to save money.

You really need to be careful when hunting for refurbished electronics. There are many websites that offer refurbished electronics, but these electronics could be used and simply repackaged. In some cases, these electronics have not been tested to see if they are in perfect condition and good enough to be sold to another user. The last thing you want is to fall victim to purchasing an electronic that will not last more than a few days.

Make sure to ask all the right – find out about the model, the operating system version (where it applies), be clear about warranties (yes, even refurbished electronics come with a warranty), or a return policy that allows you to change your mind about the electronics if they do not perform as you expected.

But more importantly, ensure that you are buying from a trusted and reliable seller. There are quite a number of reliable sellers that offer some level of guarantee and protection against losing your money to a bad purchase.
