If you’re looking to start a registered business, then you might be considering using a business formation service like Bizee or MyCompanyWorks. These business formation companies (and other companies like them) can be very helpful if you feel overwhelmed by all the business paperwork you’re facing.

But in the MyCompanyWorks vs. Bizee matchup, who comes out on top? Are there any alternatives you should consider instead? In this guide, we’ll review both Bizee and MyCompanyWorks, comparing how these two options compete in terms of value, customer service, customer reviews, and more.

Let’s get started.

About Bizee and MyCompanyWorks

At first glance, MyCompanyWorks and Bizee might seem very similar — both offer services designed to help entrepreneurs start and maintain their businesses. But each company has its own history and service lineup.

Bizee launched in 2004 under the name Incfile and used that brand name for nearly two decades. In 2023, the company rebranded as Bizee, a change meant to reflect its expanded catalog of services. What began as a straightforward formation provider has grown into a broader platform that also includes registered agent services, compliance tools, and ongoing resources to support small business owners throughout the life of their business.

MyCompanyWorks has been around just a little longer; it was founded in 2001 with the original name MyNewCompany.com, Inc. From the beginning, its mission was to make business formation as simple and affordable as possible. Since then, the company has helped form thousands of businesses. Today, MyCompanyWorks operates under Wolters Kluwer, a global corporation specializing in technology, legal, and compliance solutions with an international presence.

Key Facts About Bizee and MyCompanyWorks

Bizee and MyCompanyWorks have a fair bit of common ground as two reputable companies in the business formation services sector. We’ll dive into the distinctions between these brands throughout this guide, but here’s a quick glance at these companies.

Bizee

  • Offers a free LLC formation package (plus state fees)
  • Includes one free year of registered agent service in LLC formation packages
  • Not accredited by the Better Business Bureau

MyCompanyWorks

  • One year of registered agent service is included in the Entrepreneur package and the Complete package
  • All packages include access to the brand’s Startup Wizard, which gives post-formation guidance
  • Customer reviews on trusted third-party review sites are limited

Bizee vs. MyCompanyWorks: Our Full Review

In our assessment of Bizee and MyCompanyWorks, we evaluated each company on the basis of several different categories: business formation services, registered agent service, additional service offerings, customer feedback, and customer support.

Let’s take a closer look at those categories.

Business Formation Services

MyCompanyWorks can help you form a limited liability company or a corporation, while Bizee can help you form an LLC, corporation, or nonprofit. But how much will these formation services cost you? For most small business owners, this is an important question to answer.

In this section, we’ll compare how much it costs to start a limited liability company with one of these brands. Not all businesses will want to organize as an LLC, but it’s a very popular business structure, so it makes for a great comparison point in a guide like this.

Both Bizee and MyCompanyWorks offer different LLC formation service packages to choose from. To start, here are the packages on offer by Bizee:

  • Basic ($0 plus state fees): Bizee checks if your name is available and then files your Articles of Organization with standard processing (around 3 weeks). You also get one year of free registered agent service, a month of free virtual address service, and included business tax consultation.
  • Standard ($199 plus state fees): You get everything in the basic package, plus help creating a personalized operating agreement, getting an employer identification number (an EIN, sometimes called a federal tax ID number), and filing IRS Form 2553 if needed.
  • Premium ($299 plus state fees): You get everything in the standard package as well as rush filing, business contract templates, a domain name, a business email address, and more.

Meanwhile, here are the packages offered by MyCompanyWorks:

  • Basic ($79 plus state fees): MyCompanyWorks files your LLC formation paperwork on your behalf with same-business-day processing. You’ll also get a personalized LLC operating agreement, organizational minutes, a banking resolution, and the opportunity to open a business bank account with their partner, U.S. Bank. You’ll also get free compliance alerts about annual report due dates, a “New LLC Handbook,” and access to the Startup Wizard, a free guide on post-formation steps in your state, such as getting business licenses, tax permits, and more.
  • Entrepreneur ($199 plus state fees): You get everything in the Basic package, plus lifetime access to MyCompanyForms, including a business forms library, business checklists, entity-specific tax forms, and tax guidance. You’ll also get an EIN and one year of registered agent service included (renews annually for a fee after that).
  • Complete ($279 plus state fees): You get everything in the Entrepreneur LLC package, plus one year of MyCompanyWorks Premium, a business compliance platform that includes annual report filing service and more.

While MyCompanyWorks offers a good number of perks and features in even their Basic LLC package, but in our opinion, it’s hard to argue with the free LLC package (plus state filing fees) that Bizee offers. That’s why we offer the same perk here at ZenBusiness: just pay your state filing fees, and we’ll file your LLC formation paperwork on your behalf.

Registered Agent Service

All registered business entities, such as LLCs and corporations, are required to designate a registered agent. A registered agent is a person or service responsible for receiving service of process and other important state communications on behalf of the business. While you technically can serve as your own registered agent, there are strict rules: you must be a resident of the state, maintain a physical street address there, and be present at that address during normal business hours.

For many small business owners, those requirements are difficult to keep up with in the long term. That’s why most choose to use a professional registered agent service. Both MyCompanyWorks and Bizee offer a registered agent service to handle the responsibility for you.

Bizee and MyCompanyWorks actually charge the same price point for registered agent service: $119 per year. Bizee actually offers one year of free registered agent service for all package options, while MyCompanyWorks requires you to get the Entrepreneur or Complete LLC package to get one year of the service included. So these brands have a very similar value, but Bizee edges out MyCompanyWorks slightly since you can get a free year of service with their Basic LLC package (plus state fees).

Additional Services

Both Bizee and MyCompanyWorks go beyond simple formations, giving entrepreneurs the ability to take care of several important business needs through a single provider. That said, their service offerings aren’t identical. We won’t go through every detail in this Bizee vs. MyCompanyWorks comparison — that would make this guide far too lengthy — but here’s a look at the basics of what each brand brings to the table.

Bizee provides a variety of affordable services, including tools aimed at helping new businesses get established. Their services include obtaining an EIN, preparing operating agreements or banking resolutions, filing S corporation elections, offering corporate kits, and assisting with trademark filings. They also have a business license compliance package that helps you identify which licenses and permits your business needs.

MyCompanyWorks focuses on compliance and business management resources. Their services include a business license package, annual report filings, customizable business forms, and help with amendments or dissolutions. They also provide virtual office services in a handful of states, including Nevada, California, Delaware, Maryland, New York, Texas, and Wyoming. Although both companies have smaller catalogs than some larger competitors, Bizee and MyCompanyWorks cover the key services entrepreneurs need to launch and maintain a business.

Customer Feedback

When evaluating online business service providers, we look at independent platforms like Trustpilot and the Better Business Bureau, since they provide a more neutral view of customer experiences. With that in mind, we reviewed feedback on those sites for MyCompanyWorks and Bizee.

As of September 2025, Bizee has a strong presence on Trustpilot, holding an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars from more than 22,300 reviews. Many customers praise how easy the platform is to use and navigate. Still, there are some drawbacks. Bizee is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau, and its BBB profile currently has an F rating due to unanswered and unresolved complaints. Some reviewers also mention filing mistakes or unsatisfactory customer service interactions. If you’re seeking a brand with strong BBB ratings, you won’t find it with Bizee.

By comparison, MyCompanyWorks has very little representation on Trustpilot or the BBB — only about five reviews total on those sites, most of which are one-star. The exception is ShopperApproved, where they have a much stronger showing with over 4,500 reviews and a 4.9 out of 5-star average (as of September 2025). Because ShopperApproved is a paid reputation management platform (MyCompanyWorks pays ShopperApproved to solicit reviews for them, usually just after the business formation process is finished), we treat those reviews with more caution than feedback from independent sources.

The positive reviews MyCompanyWorks does have often describe the service as quick and easy to use. Negative reviews, on the other hand, point to issues like tax payment problems, unexpected recurring charges, and difficulties reaching customer support.

Mixed feedback (or missing feedback) might have you hesitating. In contrast, ZenBusiness is accredited by the BBB (with an A+ rating), and across 24,867 reviews, we’ve got a 4.8/5 star average.

Customer Support

At some stage, you’re likely to have questions — whether about your business, a purchased service, or something else entirely. In those cases, dependable customer support can make a big difference.

Bizee offers lifetime customer support, which you can access by phone, email, or through their online contact form. When we tested their system, a question submitted through the form received a response within one business day. Many customers also report good experiences with Bizee’s support staff, though some reviews mention frustration with unhelpful representatives, especially when it came to canceling unwanted services. Bizee’s support hours run Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT.

MyCompanyWorks also provides support through phone, email, and a website contact form. Their posted availability is 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays. In our most recent test, phone support was easy to reach, and email responses came back in just over a business day.

In our opinion, both of these brands offer pretty standard support methods. But it’s a little disappointing that neither company has any weekend support hours. If your business is a weekend side hustle, you’ll have a tougher time getting help precisely when you need it.

Which is the best LLC formation service?

Both Bizee and MyCompanyWorks can help you start and manage an LLC, but are they the right choice for your business? Maybe you love that Bizee provides a free LLC formation service (plus state filing fees), or you like the free compliance alerts that MyCompanyWorks provides. But if Bizee’s lack of BBB accreditation or MyCompanyWorks’ low number of third-party reviews has you hesitating, you might be curious about alternatives.

At ZenBusiness, we’re proud to offer our customers the best value and service. Like Bizee, we have a free LLC formation service package (just pay state filing fees). But we can also provide you with registered agent service at a great value ($99 for your first year and $199/year afterwards). Plus, we’re BBB accredited, and our customer feedback is fantastic: out of 24,867 Trustpilot reviews, we’ve got a 4.8/5 average score. We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service whenever you need it.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bizee and MyCompanyWorks

  • The most widely recommended LLC formation package offered by Bizee is their Basic package plan, which is free (you just pay your state’s filing fee). With this option, you’ll receive a year of registered agent service in addition to your formation.

  • We asked MyCompanyWorks’ customer support team if they handle any publications services in New York. They said they do offer publication services, but you’ll have to contact them for a quote, as the prices vary depending on the county you’re operating in. Bizee offers no assistance with the NY publication process.

If you need help with NY publication requirements, check out our New York publication service for more information.

  • Bizee includes a few upsells throughout the process, especially if you use their most basic package offering. MyCompanyWorks does offer a few upsells, but they’re primarily located on the package selection screen, so they aren’t too distracting.

  • Would you like to take a look at a few other options and see if Bizee is as good as other companies? Check out our comparisons of Bizee to other LLC services:

  • MyCompanyWorks offers a 90-day satisfaction guarantee, but refunds only apply to the first month of recurring services and exclude state fees or third-party costs. Cancellations may also come with processing fees of between $25 and $75 depending on how far along your order is, and once documents are filed with the state, refunds aren’t available.

Bizee lets you cancel and get a refund if you act quickly — usually within the first 24 hours before your payment is sent to the state or another third party. After that point, or once work like a trademark search has started, refunds aren’t available.

  • With Bizee, standard processing usually takes a few weeks (their promise time varies by state). Expedited service (included in their Premium package) cuts their processing time considerably, but it still varies by state. MyCompanyWorks bases their turnaround times on the state’s processing speeds as well, so formation speeds will vary. The brand has same-day processing for their part of the process, and you can upgrade to expedited service at the state level on the package selection screen (if it’s available in your state).

  • You absolutely can form an LLC on your own. Using LLC services can be really helpful, though. Services like ZenBusiness, Bizee, and MyCompanyWorks can all take some of the paperwork off your plate. These services can also help you navigate your state’s business compliance rules and regulations, which might be trickier than you expect.

  • Bizee’s biggest advantage is their Basic package, which gives you a free LLC formation (plus state fees) and one year of free registered agent service. MyCompanyWorks’ biggest advantage is probably that they’ll process your LLC formation paperwork on the same business day (or next business day if it’s after 3 p.m. EST).

  • Bizee charges an annual fee of $119 per year for its registered agent service. They also offer an annual report service for $99 plus state fees. MyCompanyWorks includes free compliance alerts about annual report due dates with every LLC formation package. They also offer registered agent service for $119 per year or annual report service starting at $99 plus state fees.
