IncFile and Inc Authority are two popular companies in the LLC formation services industry, and we’re confident in their abilities to efficiently form your compliant business entity. Each of these companies has its own advantages when compared to each other.
In addition to ZenBusiness, these are two of the only companies we’re aware of in this industry that offer LLC formation service free of charge, as long as you pay your state fee. While they both receive strong customer feedback, Incfile has a significantly higher volume of positive reviews than Inc Authority does. Furthermore, Incfile has more experience than Inc Authority.
Would you like to learn the details that set these service providers apart, as well as the common characteristics they both share? Read on as we discuss all the relevant information.
1) Free LLC Formation: Inc Authority and Incfile are two of the only companies offering LLC formation services free of charge. All you need to do is pay your state fee, and they’ll handle the rest for free!
2) Positive Customer Feedback: Both of these companies receive high average rating scores in their customer reviews, which indicates a good level of client satisfaction.
3) Registered Agent Service: Incfile and Inc Authority both include one year of registered agent service with all of their LLC formation service packages. Considering the fact that every LLC needs a registered agent anyway, this is a solid offer.
4) Customer Support: These two services both have customer support networks that can answer your questions. Why go it alone when you can get help from Incfile or Inc Authority?
5) Efficiency: With either Incfile or Inc Authority, you’re getting a service provider that’s capable of processing an LLC formation quickly. If you’re in a hurry, they both have options available that can speed up your formation (for an additional fee, of course).
6) Experience: Both Inc Authority and Incfile have helped form thousands of businesses over the years, and they both have plenty of expertise. You can trust them to have the experience they need to form your compliant LLC.
7) Additional Services: Do you need assistance with other popular business services like federal employer ID number (EIN) acquisition, foreign qualification, or LLC operating agreements? Inc Authority and Incfile provide many additional services, making them one-stop shops for your LLC.

Incfile: Incfile will help you form your business for free while also providing a year of registered agent service. Once the first year is over, the registered agent service will renew for $119 per year. In addition, their $199 Gold package and $299 Platinum package both include valuable features that make them options as well, even at their higher price points.
Inc Authority: They offer a free (+ state fee) LLC formation service package that includes a year of registered agent service and EIN acquisition. Inc Authority also sells two premium packages with advanced features like an LLC operating agreement template, faster filing, and personalized business advice, but you’ll need to contact them to inquire about pricing.
Incfile: Incfile’s experience level is high, as they’ve helped form more than 1 million businesses since they opened in 2004.
Inc Authority: Inc Authority has been in business since 1989, and they’ve formed more than 130,000 business entities since then.
Incfile: Incfile offers phone and email support, which we tested. Incfile’s phone support is typically responsive and helpful. However, its email support is much less responsive. Some of our emails have gone unanswered, and several of the responses we have received are just form emails that don’t directly address our questions.
Inc Authority: Inc Authority offers customer support via phone, email, or web chat. With all three options, you’ll receive timely support from friendly and knowledgeable representatives. Inc Authority reps are available from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET on weekdays.
Incfile: With Incfile, turnaround times vary based on each individual state’s formation speeds. This can be as quick as a few days in some states or could take several weeks in others. You can also add expedited processing to speed it up, although the price will vary by state.
Inc Authority: Each state has its own in-house processing times, ranging from a few days all the way up to a couple of months. Inc Authority bases its turnarounds on these state estimates, so you’ll see quite a bit of variety in expected processing speeds between different states. All that said, Inc Authority’s turnaround times are usually competitive with other services.
Incfile: Incfile doesn’t just have hundreds of customer reviews available online, they have 75,000+ of them. Furthermore, their feedback is mostly positive, with critical reviews in short supply.
Inc Authority: Customer feedback is a pro for Inc Authority. They have 23,000+ reviews available online with a 4.9/5 average score on Trustpilot.
Incfile: As you walk through the process of signing up for Incfile, your steps are personalized based on the state you live in and the type of business you wish to establish. There are hyperlinks throughout the application to learn more about a specific question or entry on the form. There are a few upsells and third-party offers to navigate through, but if you opt into any of them, your total price is immediately updated on the screen.
Inc Authority: The ordering process is pretty simple with Inc Authority. On the first screen, you’ll choose your entity type (LLC, corporation, nonprofit) and your state. Then, you’ll answer a series of questions about yourself and your business. Next, you’ll enter your name, email address, and phone number, followed by your business name, a short description of your business, and your business address. You’ll then navigate through an extensive series of upsells for an operating agreement template, a legal documents package, a minutes and resolutions feature, web design software, personalized business support, audit and lawsuit assistance, and business banking from Bank of America before finally paying for your order.
Inc Authority and Incfile offer many of the same services. They can both provide registered agent service, business bank accounts, trademark assistance, and more. However, they also both have some features that the other company lacks.
For example, only Inc Authority provides revocable living trusts and business credit assistance. On the other hand, Incfile offers business accounting service, amendments, and dissolutions, which Inc Authority doesn’t.
Incfile and Inc Authority have plenty of common characteristics that make them two of the most popular LLC formation services available, but they also have some differences that set them apart. If you haven’t yet made up your mind between them, let’s finish this comparison by quickly describing some scenarios that may sway your opinion one way or the other.
Do you prioritize a company with highly responsive customer support? Or, if you need an EIN for your LLC, they’re a solid option because they include this filing with each LLC formation package.
Do you prioritize experience and customer volume? Do you prefer to use a company with a user-friendly website? Does a strong customer feedback reputation sway your decision? These are a few reasons to consider Incfile.

The most widely recommended LLC formation package offered by Incfile is their Silver plan, which is free if you pay your own state fee. With this option, you’ll receive a year of registered agent service in addition to your formation.
Incfile doesn’t provide assistance with publication requirements. We called their customer support department to make sure, and they told us that state publication requirements “need to be taken care of with the state directly.” Inc Authority doesn’t offer publication service, either. Check out our New York publication service for more information about your options.
Incfile has very few upsells, as they do a good job of not annoying their customers by constantly asking them to upgrade their service package or add unnecessary features. Inc Authority includes quite a few upsells throughout their order form, but seeing as they’re a free service to begin with, this doesn’t really bother us too much.
On Inc Authority’s website, they specifically mention that they won’t grant any refund requests for any reason. Incfile’s refund policy is very strict, as they only grant refunds if they’re requested before they send your money to the state, which they say is typically within 24 hours of placing your order, and even then, there’s a $30 cancellation fee. After they submit payment to the state, they grant no refunds.
These two sites have turnaround times that are quite similar due to the fact that they both base their processing speeds on each individual state’s ability to process formations. This means your turnaround time might be as quick as just a few days in some states but could take several weeks in others.
You sure can, and many entrepreneurs form their own LLCs every day. However, the do-it-yourself route doesn’t provide the same peace of mind that you’ll receive from having professionals form your business. Furthermore, each state sets its own rules and regulations for LLC formations, and it can be a hassle to track down your state’s requirements. Plus, services like us at ZenBusiness can form your LLC for free, as long as you cover the state fee.
