When your business starts expanding beyond your first few clients, it’s always a good idea to acquire a business phone service. Not only does this give your business a more professional presentation, but it also prevents your personal phone from getting overwhelmed by calls and messages.
RingCentral is an outstanding option for any business that requires a phone plan with unlimited texting. Let’s quickly run down some of its pros and cons before we take a deeper dive.
RingCentral has four tiers of business phone service, each with five varying price points depending on the number of users. If you only need service for one user, RingCentral’s rates are pretty high at a minimum of $29.99 per month, and that’s if you use the annual payment option to save 25%.
That said, if you need service for 2-20 users, RingCentral drops the per-user rate considerably, all the way down to $19.99/month.
How much value RingCentral provides its customers depends on how many users you’ll have. As we already mentioned, we’re not a fan of RingCentral’s pricing for a single user. We also don’t love its pricing for more than 20 users, as RingCentral pretty much stops providing discounted rates after the 2-20 user tier.
That said, for those of you in that 2-20 user sweet spot, RingCentral is a great bargain. The $19.99 per user, per month fee is an excellent price point, especially when you consider RingCentral’s inclusion of unlimited calls and texts, as well as business and toll-free phone numbers.
RingCentral has been around since 1999, giving this company more longevity than most competitors can claim. However, it’s difficult to tell how many customers RingCentral has, as the “About Us” section on its website is short on details and Wikipedia didn’t have the answer either.
We found around 2,300 reviews for RingCentral on various third-party review aggregator websites, and discovered that the company averages roughly 3.9 stars out of 5. This is an acceptable but unimpressive reputation in our eyes.
Customer support availability is a big advantage for RingCentral compared to many competitors, as this company offers 24/7 phone support for businesses with at least two users on their RingCentral plans. Even for one-user service, RingCentral still answers the phones for 13 hours per day on weekdays.
In our experience, RingCentral reps have always provided consistent, knowledgeable, and friendly support. However, we will note that there is a trend in this company’s customer feedback in which customers complain about representatives tricking them into signing up for a two-year contract renewal when they try to cancel their service.
While we’ve never experienced this ourselves, it’s a widespread enough trend in customer reviews that we’ll subtract a couple of points from RingCentral’s otherwise-impressive performance in this area.
There wouldn’t be much point in using a business phone service if it didn’t make it cheaper and easier to communicate with your customers and vendors. Thankfully, RingCentral does just that, with an easy-to-use interface and intuitive features.
RingCentral has improved its user experience considerably over the years, adding features and refining its apps. Today, it’s one of the more intuitive business phone services available, in our opinion.
We dug up 2,271 reviews for RingCentral on reputable review aggregator websites. While the 3.9/5 average score for RingCentral isn’t bad, it’s not great either. There are definitely some competitors with better scores.
What drives this score, both positively and negatively? On the positive side, plenty of customers praise RingCentral for streamlining their business communications, and many also note the quality assistance they receive from RingCentral reps.
That said, we should probably discuss the one trend we discovered in RingCentral’s negative feedback. There is a not-insignificant number of complaints online from business owners claiming that RingCentral representatives tricked them into extending their contracts for two additional years when they try to cancel their business phone service plans.
RingCentral is an outstanding option for any business seeking a phone service with unlimited texting. We appreciate this company’s solid user interface and long hours of customer support availability.
