With ZenBusiness, what you see is what you get — high-quality service, transparent pricing, and simple annual renewals that keep your business compliant.
Rocket Lawyer and ZenBusiness are both companies that can help entrepreneurs start a business. But that doesn’t mean they’re the same. ZenBusiness focuses on helping entrepreneurs at every stage of business, including registered agent services, annual report services, business license reports, a Money Pro app for managing business finances, and more.
Rocket Lawyer has a different focus; their primary service offering is their Rocket Legal Plus subscription. Essentially, it’s their primary goal to offer people affordable legal services.
Rocket Lawyer’s main product, Rocket Legal Plus, costs $239.88 per year ($19.99/month when billed annually). They offer a simpler subscription, Rocket Legal, which costs just $39.99 per month; however, this option has fewer features.
It’s also worth noting that these subscriptions don’t cover every single service Rocket Lawyer offers. For example, subscribers would still pay extra fees for registered agent service, trademark registration, and other related expenses.
ZenBusiness is more affordable than Rocket Lawyer for forming an LLC. ZenBusiness offers a free LLC formation package (only pay state fees). Rocket Lawyer’s comparable business registration service costs $99.99 plus state fees. The only exception is for Rocket Legal Plus subscribers, who get their first business registration for free (plus state fees). This subscription costs $239.88 per year, so that free registration may only be worth the expense if a business owner also wants to get other legal services.
Rocket Lawyer doesn’t publish their filing speeds on their website, so it’s tough to say how quickly they’ll process an LLC. ZenBusiness processing speeds vary depending on what formation package you select. Our Standard package offers processing within 7-10 business days, but both our Pro and Premium packages include our fastest processing time: one business day.
Note: This doesn’t cover state processing speeds, but rather how quickly either service prepares and sends the paperwork to the appropriate state agency.
Not technically, no. Rocket Lawyer offers standalone LLC formation for $99.99 plus state fees for non-members. Rocket Legal Plus subscribers get their first business registration for free, though.
Both ZenBusiness and Rocket Lawyer have many positive customer reviews, but ZenBusiness has a slightly better score. Across 25,813 reviews, we’ve got a 4.8 average score. Rocket Lawyer currently has a 4.6 average rating across close to 9,600 reviews (as of November 2025).
Currently, Rocket Lawyer offers customer support by chat, email, and phone. Their support hours run from Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. PT. We offer support every day of the week: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. CT on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT on weekends. You can reach us by phone, chat, and email. Even by email, you’ll get a response within one business day.
Both Rocket Lawyer and ZenBusiness offer registered agent services, but these services aren’t included for free with an LLC formation package. Rocket Lawyer charges $249.99 per year for standalone registered agent service; with a Rocket Legal Plus membership, the rate is $124.99 per year.
With ZenBusiness, registered agent service is included in the Premium membership, which costs $349 and renews annually at $399. Adding a registered agent with the Starter and Pro packages costs an additional $199 per year.
Here’s how Rocket Lawyer describes their own refund policy: “We gladly offer refunds for billing mistakes or if there is a problem with the delivery of your Services. However, unless you have a good reason, we don’t give refunds for Services that you’ve already used.” Their terms of service page says that all refunds must be requested within 30 days.
ZenBusiness offers a satisfaction guarantee that allows you to request a refund within 60 days of your business formation plan (provided forms haven’t been submitted to a government agency). You can also request a refund for annual subscription services within 30 days of the purchase date.
