How to do an Arkansas LLC Name Search

Before forming an LLC in Arkansas, a unique business name has to be found. See how to find if the LLC name you want is available to register.

The Business and Commercial Services Division of the Arkansas Secretary of State records all filings and incorporations of businesses formed in the state. The Division keeps all information related to businesses registered in Arkansas. Types of business entities incorporated in the state as a domestic or foreign entity.  These entities include Corporations, Limited Partnerships, Limited Liability Companies and Limited Liability Partnerships.

The online business entity search tool is important when forming an LLC as every LLC in the state must have a unique name. By using the database, you can save considerable time as LLC paperwork will be returned should a name be requested that is already registered.

Step 1 – Go to the official website of the Arkansas Secretary of State and click on “Business Search” under the “Business and Commercial Services” section of the site to start your search. 

Step 2 – Click on the “Corporation Type” and select “Domestic Limited Liability Company”. Next enter the name of the LLC you want to register. In this example, we will search for “Arkansas Muscle”

As you can see from the screenshot below the name Arkansas Muscle is an LLC that is active and in good standing in the state. This means the name can’t be registered by anyone else.

You are able to find more details about registered entities in the state such as any fictitious names, good standing of the entity, principal office address, Arkansas registered agent information and registered agent address, officers.

For a small fee, a Certificate of Good Standing can also be purchased. Additionally from this screen, the Franchise Tax can be paid, which is a tax on the privilege of doing business in the state.  An Annual Report will be submitted with the Franchise Tax.
